What will the apprentice be doing?
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Check email and action accordingly
- Manage transport calendar daily
- Deal with customer queries/orders via telephone and email
- Schedule vehicles in for inspections, MOTs, rolling brake tests, services, tachograph calibrations and so on
- Deal with live breakdowns
- Build a strong relationship with our suppliers, contractors and partners
- Go through load tickets and add manual sundry entries into the software
- Manage compliance for EU regulations - drivers hours, tachograph infringements and so on, supporting our transport manager
- Post vacancies onto recruitment sites and arrange interviews
- Deal with any load ticket enquires for our current partners
- Invoice contractors and ensure payment has been made in time
- Ordering tools and safety equipment for drivers and staff
- Provide a breakdown of fuel discrepancies each week to the senior management team
- Monitor and schedule vehicle damages/repairs
- Conduct bi-weekly plant visits to ensure drivers have grease tubes, grease guns, broom heads, wheel nut indicators, collect load tickets, collect fuel receipts, collect defect books, visually monitor the condition of the vehicles
- Manage staffs annual leave and sicknesses register (Find cover/hire vehicle if required)
- Provide our contractors with a regular weekly update on which drivers/vehicles are off for the following week
- To be the first point of contact for all staff
- Cross check load tickets against our remittance advice to ensure there’s no discrepancies
- Set up new employees on the system and ensure all induction documents are completed and uploaded onto the server
- Compose reports on a daily basis, such as ‘director daily report’ showing profit and loss per day
- Take minutes during interviews and meetings
- Completing credit application and account opening forms
