What will the apprentice be doing?

Assisting the Cloud team with a demanding, varied portfolio of clients as follows:

  • Weekly processing of supplier bills on data capture software such as Dext, AutoEntry, Hubdoc and Pleo and checking expense account allocation, VAT status, description and amount.
  • Publish transactions from data capture software to Xero software.
  • Reconciling bank transactions on xero (in GBP and other currencies such as Euro/USD).
  • Post payroll journals.
  • Extract information from ecommerce sales software such as shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon,
  • Stripe sales reports. Prepare posting summaries to enter as journals on xero.
  • Supplier statements reconciliations to xero aged payable reports.
  • Review aged payables reports (outstanding supplier bills) for any queries to raise with client.
  • Review aged receivables reports(outstanding customer sales invoices) for any queries to raise with client.
  • Record time spent on jobs and provide explanations of any variances to budget.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3.

This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting.

You will study 5 units:

  • Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS).
  • Management Accounting Techniques (MATS).
  • Tax Processes for Business (TPFB).
  • Business Awareness (BUAW).
  • Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment.

Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online sessions. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The successful candidate will be given formal training as an apprentice, initially working towards gaining their AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and moving on to study the CIMA qualification becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant. This position provides full study support.
