What will the apprentice be doing?
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure that the environment is kept safe for children, staff and others.
- Develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development once deemed competent and confident.
- You are to be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Deputy Nursery Manager/Nursery Manager.
- Complete all academic aspects of the Apprenticeship in line with your expected target dates.
- You will be assigned ‘study time’ whilst, in the Nursery, we will support you in any way we can.
- To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
- Deliver an appropriate play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
- To help ensure we meet the requirements of Ofsted requirements at all times.
- Understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
- Plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
- To work towards becoming a key person.
- Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. Daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments.
- Liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement - once you are deemed capable.
- Attend Staff Meetings held out of hours and Professional Development Training Sessions, to complete training updates when requested.
- Attend regular Staff Supervision - one-to-one.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed in accordance with our aims and objectives.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 3 Early Years Educator at Stockton Riverside College.
- Functional Skills Maths and English, if required.
- First aid qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
An opportunity for a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship.
