What will the apprentice be doing?

This apprenticeship placement is with a friendly, family owned business who, for the last 50 years have been involved in delivering top class, quality innovative products. Totally revolutionising one of the most taken for granted kitchen products, the kitchen tap, the team deliver on quality and engineering excellence, producing their get ahead products for a global market including commercial consumers, healthcare professionals and charities as well as a domestic client base.
This is an opportunity for a motivated and hardworking apprentice to join them and gain a really solid basis for a career in Manufacturing Engineering, learning under the guidance of an experienced production manager as well as receiving off the job training that will lead them to a Level 2 qualification in Lean Manufacturing.
The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly and testing of the company’s products, working to strict safety and quality procedures, and helping to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity to meet customer expectations and needs, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.
Daily duties will include:
- Ensuring the accurate and efficient assembly, testing, and packing of the company’s products.
- Positioning, aligning and securing component parts during the assembly operations.
- Securing the components in position using the specified fastening device/method.
- Identifying and resolving potential assembly problems.
- Working with a range of materials to produce various components and completed products.
- Interpreting and following job instructions through to completion.
- Helping to deliver to time schedules allocated for each assembly job.
- Monitoring stock levels.
- Checking components for accuracy and quality.
- Caring for and maintaining the company’s tools and equipment.
- Helping maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.
- Maintaining good communications and relationships throughout the company.
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
- Participating in the overall continuous improvement of the company.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Training will be provided y means of regular in the workplace and online sessions.
Successful completion of the appreticeship will result in ONE of the following Level 2 Lean Manufacturing qualifications:
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/3589/0
- ETCAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/5151/2
- Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/4344/8
- OAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills) Ofqual number: 603/6783/0
- City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 610/0180/6
