This will depend on the training days at college, we are offering a minimum of 30 hours, potentially more, to fit around training. We are open seven days, including a prep day on Tuesday’s. Shifts to be confirmed.

What will the apprentice be doing?
To work in a one of two busy kitchens to produce high quality, chef prepared food and to support the development of the new catering and hospitality business.
Job tasks:
- With close mentoring support, to make and deliver exceptional quality food
- Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers
- Keep high standards of personal cleanliness and appearance
- Maintain high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the workplace
- Work across the Silver Oak team to help ensure the smooth running of the business
- Work with all team members to ensure great communication and efficient working
- Adhere to all recipe and presentation standards
- Report all equipment failure and hazards upon detection
- Ensure stock rotation and wastage is kept to a minimum
- Keep Food Safety knowledge up to date and conform to all health/food safety codes of practice and COSHH regulations
- Participate in a reviews and development as requested
- Carry out duties as requested
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
There will be on and off the job training and mentoring support by the employer. The position is for 5 days a week including a day release attendance at Cambridge campus.
The practical training period is the time dedicated to the development of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours for your Apprenticeship which includes the following components;
Level 2 Production Chef Standard
Level 2 Award in Food Safety
The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the College, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence.
The knowledge side would be provided via an online portal and assignments/evidence of work/portfolio via an online Smart Assessor tool.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Full-time chef roles are available following successful completion of Apprenticeships. We are an expanding business and continuously invest in our teams.
