What will the apprentice be doing?
- Work in the sales department to gain experience and knowledge of the business
- Work closely with the Sales team and provide support to members of the Sales team
- Support the Sales team in the implementation of overall sales and commercial strategy
- Answer incoming calls from customers, pricing or diverting where appropriate
- Produce and record material quotations for UK customers as directed
- Ensure transport arrangements are reliable and cost effective and that customer service standards are adhered to
- Ensure customer complaints are appropriately dealt with and escalated where necessary
- Develop positive relationships and effective management skills
- Run small projects and learn to project manage larger programmes. Seeing projects through to completion
- Undertake proactive sales calls as required
- Plan schedules and organise workloads
- Create a network of useful contact both within and outside the organisation
- Engaging appropriate and approved contractors
- Conducting tender processes for works and selecting suppliers
- Handling necessary contracts and purchases
- Obtaining competitive prices and for goods and services
- Monitoring safety and quality of work of any contractors and suppliers
- Liaising on planning applications, Environmental Permits applications and other compliance requirements for new developments
- Adherence to current planning permissions, Environmental Permits and other compliance requirements
- Achieving agreed deadlines and other agreed measures of success
- Safety and security of people and resources within the area of and carrying out duties in accordance with company policies and charter
- Liaise with the Management team on a regular basis raising any key issues and major developments promptly
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports including but not exhaustive of projects, sales leads, sales forecasts, quotations, order intake
- Ensure accidents are investigated and reported in line with Company policy and corrective actions are implemented
- Liaise and cooperate with the Group HR and H&S Manager as and when required
- Routine site inspections carried out in accordance with legislative requirements
- Identify any personal training needs and participate in relevant management training that the Company delivers
- Recommend changes to develop / improve production processes, quality and products
- Liaise and cooperate with the Group Continuous Improvement Manager as and when required
- Monitor and maintain standards of quality and compliance at all times
- Conduct robust product testing programmes as per the Company’s schedule
- Investigate any issues and recommend actions to prevent any re-occurrence
- Any other duties, as demanded by the job role and as requested by your line manager as and when required
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You attend Sheffield Hallam University on block release for 4 days at a time, 5 times a year
- The degree award is BA (Hons) Professional Practice in Management
