We are a chartered firm of accountants located in the Wigan area. We specialize in small and medium sized businesses and offer accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and company secretarial work. An accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business and are responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will be expected to assist the accountants, VAT managers and payroll managers.
Their duties will include:
- Managing telephones
- Greeting clients
- Preparing letters
- General office administration
The apprentice will receive full training in our commercial payroll and bookkeeping software.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship standard:
Apprentices will be required to take one of the professional qualifications listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role:
- AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
- ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2)
- IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping
- ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping
This apprenticeship requires you to attend college 1 day a week. You will be assessed through written work, verbal discussion and observation throughout your training.
Apprentices without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and taken the test for level 2 prior to taking their end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirement is entry Level 3.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progression to level 3 and 4 AAT.
