Kings Chambers is looking for and individual to become a member of the Chambers’ Personal Injury Clerking team. The job holder will report on a day-to-day basis to our Chief Clerks in our Manchester Chambers who have overall responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day smooth running of the clerk’s room.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Responsibilities & duties are outlined below but not limited to;
Administrative duties
- Use of LEX case management System
- Delivering document to various solicitors & the courts locally
- Use of Internet & law library to search for authorities, use of online databases
- Collating and producing authority bundles for court
- Photocopying / Scanning / Faxing
- Incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
- Collecting / returning books from and to the law library
- Retrieving papers from Barrister’s rooms
- Ordering stationary and other supplies
- Setting up of Seminars and collating of delegate packs
- Secure destruction of confidential waste in accordance with chambers policy
Clerking duties
- Logging in briefs for all fast-track matters
- Sending papers to counsel
- Fee Assessment and sending of fee notes
- Taking bookings for counsel from insurers and panel solicitors over the phone, which entails discussing appropriate fees. This can differ from Trials, MOJ’s, small claims, Telephone hearings.
- Chasing papers from solicitors
- Diary management
- Organising of couriers for counsel
- Checking court lists and also daily communication with courts.
- Working alongside PI clerks in managing the diary and allocating work
- Logging in and sending of outcome reports from counsel onto insurers and panel solicitors
- Collating and presenting management information to chambers insurer clients
- Weekly Bordereau summary for all insurer client fees
- Attending meetings with the Chief Clerk for the department, when required, with insurer clients
- Maintaining and developing the relationship with the insurer clients

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
- Functional Skills in maths and English if required
- Excellent Work Experience
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
