Weekly wages range from £250 - £630 per week. Wages depend on age. Rates for different ages and working hours between 39 & 48 hours per week. Travel & accommodation allowances are accessible whilst on site, dependent on individual circumstances.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The Formwork Carpenter Apprenticeship is for anyone aged 18 or above who is looking for a career in Formwork Shuttering. You will have the opportunity to learn from the best instructors/mentors who have many years of experience
Duties will include:
- You will be employed by Bylor and working at Hinkley Point C. The work is predominantly outdoors, and you will be required to work closely with Steel Fixers, Engineers, and other teams across site
- Form and assemble horizontal and vertical formwork and its components for a range of application including wall, slabs/bases, columns, beams, and precast units to support concrete.
- Competent to safely use, store and maintain hand tools, power tools and ancillary equipment
- Demonstrate knowledge of planning and able to undertake different methods of construction used to build structures productively. Competent to read, interpret and apply information from drawings, specifications and construction information
- Takes ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage your own time
- Communicate in a clear and appropriate manner
- Apply general workplace health, safety and welfare requirements when undertaking construction formwork, falsework activities
- Practice safe working techniques for moving, lifting and handling traditional and proprietary formwork system, which will include working at height and using access equipment
- Your working environment may be at height, noisy, dirty, physically demanding, outdoors in all weathers and cramped
- You will need to wear safety clothing and use safety equipment and adhere to the HPC values
- You will need to complete your apprentice college work alongside working on site which may mean that your assignments will need to be completed in the evenings and weekends
- Flexibility is required as we are currently operating shift patterns which include weekends and nights

- Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Formwork Carpentry
- NOCN Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Formwork
- Level 1/2 Functional Skills English (exemptions apply)
- Level 1/2 Functional Skills maths (exemptions apply)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Being able to state that you have successfully completed your apprenticeship and developed your formwork carpenter skills and abilities at Hinkley Point C new nuclear build will be a highly valued part of your CV
Formwork Carpenters have the opportunity to travel the country, the continent and the world to work on civil engineering/construction projects and can progress into site supervision and construction management in the future. Alternatively, learn other skills and broaden their construction experience.
