What will the apprentice be doing?
This is a brilliant time to join our P&C team, we have recently transitioned from a HR team to a P&C team, really showcasing and supporting the fact that our people and the culture of the firm are the focus and at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of the fantastic work our P&C team is doing to support the firm and we want to continue being at the forefront of new initiatives – just as our patent attorneys are!
We have a great and growing team, which is headed up by Anne Clarke, People and Culture Director. Dawn Gillard is our Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, and Tom White our Senior Learning and Development Manager.
We are currently recruiting an HR Manager who will work with Rebecca Baker our HR Advisor and Oli Mortimer our HR Assistant.
The Role:
This role is for someone who wants to start their HR career in a busy, proactive and creative team. It is for someone who wants to learn, to develop their skills to progress that HR career, and gain exposure to the full HR remit. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end to end administration of the employee lifecycle, which includes:
- Responsibility for the new joiner onboarding and end to end leaver administrative processes
- Responsibility for updating/maintaining the HR database (Cezanne), including uploading new joiners, processing career changes and exiting leavers
- Assisting with career changes by overseeing contract variation letters, and subsequent administrative actions
- Maintaining and organising employee records – hardcopy and electronic files
- Support with monthly payroll as required – providing details for joiners, leavers and employee career changes
- Oversee the probationary process i.e. tracking probations, sending reminders to managers and confirming the outcome to employees
- Assist the Talent Acquisition Manager with recruitment, such as organising interviews and responding to applications/queries in the hiring inbox and the Application tracking system, assisting with the organisation of graduate recruitment events
- Assist the Learning and Development Manager with the coordination of our training programmes i.e. booking meeting rooms, organising paperwork, and sending calendar reminders to delegates
- Organise/prepare staff analysis reports for the business as required
- Tracking absences and providing analysis reports
- Prepare the weekly agenda for the HR team meetings – track progress of actions
- Provide support for firmwide wellbeing and diversity initiatives
- Assist the People and Culture team with general administrative support for monthly processes, initiatives, events/projects
- Get stuck-in with our busy calendar of projects and the exciting opportunities they present
- Work cross-functionally with colleagues from different teams to provide a seamless service to the firm

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- As a HR Support Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the HR Support Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, which is aligned with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Upon completion you will be awarded the CIPD Foundation Certificate and you will be able to apply for Membership of CIPD
- The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Become a fully qualified HR Administrator with the opportunity to move into a co-ordinator role
