What will the apprentice be doing?
Duties will include:
- To support teaching staff in raising pupil attainment and in the maintenance of a well ordered environment. This may involve preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals, groups or whole classes. It will include monitoring individuals or small groups of pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress
- To implement strategies to support pupils to raising their achievements in all subjects, such as giving further explanations, by adapting work, by prompting or encouraging concentration and participation etc.
- To work in partnership with the class teacher and other staff to facilitate access to the Foundation Stage Curriculum or the National Curriculum for pupils with special educational needs pupils or with social and behavioural problems
- To assist in the assessment and recording of pupil progress
- To deliver planned activities to a small group or individual pupils
- To cover for part of the teacher’s planning, preparation and assessment time
- To promote inclusive education and integration and help in the development of relationships by encouraging appropriate interaction between pupils
- To support the class teacher in managing behaviour
- To liaise with the class teacher about individual children’s learning
- To undertake any duties planned by the class teacher or Headteacher, including playground duties
- To attend learning support meetings and staff meetings where relevant
- To attend courses and keep up to date with new developments
- To comply with the procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and report concerns to an appropriate person
