We offer a well rounded equine education to customers, but we also pride ourselves on the variety of disciplines offered and the treatment of our horses. The apprentice will work in our cross country outside arenas, gallops and American style barns/stables and learn how to care for and treat horses.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice's tasks will vary daily, but in general their duties will include:

General Yard Duties.

Tacking up and Untacking.

Keeping the riding area ponies fit for their work.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprentice will receive a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship qualification, which will include:
- Yard & Field Routines & Duties
- Horse Anatomy, Physiology & Welfare
- Horse Handling Care & Welfare
- Saddlery & Equipment
- Travelling Horses
- Non-Ridden Exercise
- Riding / Non-riding (can choose either pathway)
- English and maths: Apprentices without level 2 English and maths must achieve level 1 and take the test for level 2 before taking the end-point assessment.
Training is on site at Mayfield, Crowborough, East Sussex. On site training will be 4 days a week, allowing 1 day a week at Plumpton College.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
An apprentice can explore further education with NVQs etc, or pursue a career in coaching or teaching.
