What will the apprentice be doing?

The role will include:
 Assisting with operating heating plant and equipment efficiently and effectively, adjusting the control systems as necessary, reporting issues to the Site Manager/ Business Manager or appropriate contractors as required and within the post holders ability and training
 Reporting emergencies in the case of faults to relevant contractors and keep the Site Manager/Business Manager informed
 Assisting with the security of the premises including checks on the security lighting and fire and burglar alarm systems
 Assisting with regular basic inspections of the site and buildings and report any maintenance or improvement requirements to the Site Manager/Business Manager
 Liaising with all appropriate staff in relation to all site matters as necessary
 Assisting with preventative maintenance by checking buildings and equipment and report problems to Site Manager/Business Manager or undertake minor repairs as necessary
 Assisting with minor improvements including painting and the erecting of shelves/notice boards, including repairs to locks hinges and sinks, as directed by the Site Manager
 Assisting in maintenance of the grounds of the school and ensure the tidiness and upkeep of paths, drives and other hard surfaces, for example, removing leaves and litter, emptying of field bins, keeping the orderly appearance of the grounds
 Assisting with stock control of consumable items, monitor stock levels and arranging for orders to be placed in accordance with current procedures and to make sure soap, towels, and toilet tissue is replenished in all toilets on the site as necessary
 Assisting with basic IT set up of projectors and laptops
 Undertaking portering tasks as required, including setting up and clearing away furniture, receiving and distributing deliveries of goods and equipment, making sure classrooms are ready for the start of school, including setting up of halls for exams or assemblies as required
 Assisting with disposal of waste materials in a safe and hygienic manner and ensure they are available for collection as required by the Local Authority’s waste management policies
 Assisting with cleaning internal high level windows, light fixtures etc. within the limits of safe working practices and Working at Height Regulations
 Supporting departments (eg PE) in setting up for daily lessons as and when called upon
 Helping the sports hall in setting up for after school lettings as and when called upon
 Complying with the requirements of health and safety , other relevant legislation and school documentation, to participate in
staff training programs as required and to understand and comply with the Equal Opportunities Policy and other Academy policies especially the Safe-Guarding and Staff code of Conduct policies
 Engaging in professional development opportunities in agreement with the Head Teacher/ Business Manager
 Undertaking specific duties to supervise pupils at times indicated by a rota or SLT.

Property Maintenance Operative Level 2

Training Provider:
 Ixion Holdings will provide the Apprenticeship Standard.
 Ixion Holdings will complete functional skills where necessary.
 Ixion Holdings will ensure Health & Safety, British Values and Equality & Diversity is embedded throughout the course.

This will be a blended delivery a mixture of Microsoft Teams and face to face. All training will take place on site and within your working hours.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential progresion into a Site Maintenance Operative full-time role within the Trust if there is a vacancy.
