What will the apprentice be doing?
- To assist in the provision of an attractive, stimulating range of equipment, activities and resources; setting up and clearing away daily
- To share in the responsibility of safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
- To assist in the daily domestic management of pre-school, including ensuring pre-school is kept clean, safe and secure at all times, the preparation of snacks and cleaning of equipment etc
To understand and comply with Stand pre-school’s policies and procedures - To liaise with parents and encourage their involvement in all aspects of their child’s care and development
- To respect confidentiality of any information regarding children and their families
- To have a group of key children and be responsible for their care, learning and development
- To follow the guidelines set out within the EYFS framework so that parents can be confident their child will receive a quality experience that supports their care, learning and development.
To liaise with outside agencies (e.g. Speech and Language) to provide help and support for children with SEND - To keep records on key children up to date and report any issues which may arise to your supervisor or manager
- To be involved in activities such as staff meetings, sports days, children’s parties etc
- To participate in regular supervision sessions with the pre-school manager to inform future professional development
Support for the pupil
- Support all children in the classroom, including those with Special Educational Needs, to access the curriculum in line with appropriate lesson plan
- Establish good relationships with children, acting as a role model
- Be aware of and respond appropriately to the children’s individual needs
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all children
- Encourage children to interact with others and engage in activities led by other team members
- Encourage children to act independently as appropriate
- Promote self esteem and independence
- Respond to children’s minor medical problems
- Deal with the personal care and comfort of children as required
SECONDARY DUTIES
The post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Early years practitioner level 2 apprenticeship standard
L2 diploma for the early years practitioner.
Monthly college attendance required and possibly further college for functional skills if required.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of the apprenticeship you may be offered a full-time position.
