What will the apprentice be doing?

Our staff are helpful, friendly, open and curious. We operate from a community centre, close to Tufnell Park, Kentish Town and Gospel Oak. Our operating hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

A typical day involves receiving children and speaking with parents, engaging children in play, circle time, group play or in the garden, supporting them at mealtimes and sleep times; modelling respectful and friendly behaviour, teach them about the world through play, singing, dancing, theatre etc.

You will be working towards your qualification and must ensure that you are able to keep up with the requirements of your studies and have a good attendance record.

You will;

  • Work in partnership with parents and colleagues and ensure children’s safeguarding needs are being met at all times
  • Be calm and collected with a love for working with children
  • Have high expectations of children including a commitment to ensuring that they can achieve their full educational potential
  • Establishing fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with children, their parents, peers and management team
  • Warm and caring personality - friendly and approachable for families
  • Enthusiastic, innovative, energetic and able to motivate others
  • Support teaching staff in weekly planning
  • Be happy, curious and engaging with children, read stories, sing songs, play
  • Observe children’s development and record their progress across the areas of Early Years Curriculum
  • Support children during mealtimes and sleeping times
  • Form strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues
