What will the apprentice be doing?

As part of the team you will be:

  • Responsible for taking care of the children's daily needs and providing a warm welcome to all families
  • Using initiative and planning to expand children's learning and development
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements as well as safeguarding is adhered to
  • Monitor and keep track of a selection of key children's progress and learning development

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship will offer a Level 2 in Early Years Practitioner where you will gain training in our setting and complete work set by Abingdon and Witney College. You will need to work a minimum of 30 hours a week to fulfil criteria set by the course. All help and assistance will be offered to enable you to complete the course both from your work environment and the College.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you have completed the course you will have the opportunity to continue working in our setting should you wish. The level 2 in Early Years Practitioner is a desirable requirement in many childcare settings and is an excellent progression of your career. You may be able to follow this onto a Level 3 Early Years Educator as well.

About the employer

We are a small childcare setting operating from a cabin in the back of managers garden. We have a team of 4 staff and look after around 10 children aged 6 months - 4 years old a day making our setting a cosy home from home environment.
