What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Medical summarising
  • Culling and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for summarising, read coding clinical letters
  • Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patient’s medical history.
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Telephone calls
  • Preparing invoices for reports, insurance reports, medical records
  • Monitoring the referrals system
  • Monitoring the generic emails
  • Writing minutes for clinical meetings
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
  • Ordering equipment
  • Providing regular reception cover as well as general administrative duties, such as:
  • Make appointments telephone/surgery as required.
  • In-house appointments (assist with).
  • Post and results in/out-enter details on computer.
  • Insurance medicals/reports-book appointments, photocopy, post
  • Culling and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for summarising.
  • Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patient’s medical history.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The business admin apprentice qualification level 3 will be delivered in the workplace and you will not be required to attend college.
