What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Anticipating customer, store, and partner needs
  • Delivering legendary customer service by acting with a customer-comes-first attitude
  • Executing store operations, including organising opening & closing duties
  • Following up with baristas during the shift to ensure the delivery of hospitality excellence for all customers

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As an apprentice, you will work closely with management who will offer guidance on tasks and goals you will be expected to achieve. You may be involved in supporting and developing other team members while monitoring resources and workload on a day-to-day basis. You will learn about different leadership styles and ways to support and develop other people in the team to improve their performance. You will learn about managing people and how to deliver both positive and constructive feedback to your team. You will learn about managing conflict, whether that be with colleagues, customers or clients and you will develop your personal attitudes and behaviours to help when leading a team. You will receive the following qualifications:

  • Team Leader Supervisor Level 3
  • Functional Skills in English & maths Level 2 (if required)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Our apprenticeship programs at Starbucks allow our partners to progress from level 2 to level 6 in our stores or even progress into a support centre position. We’ve had partners that within 5 years have completed a level 2 barista apprenticeship, then quickly move on to their level 3 shift supervisor apprenticeship to give them the mentoring and team development skills. They then also have the opportunity to complete their level 4 store manager apprenticeship and run their own store! Alongside this, all of our partners have the opportunity to progress their career through either our retail operations or our support centre. Did you know, our retail director started as a part-time Barista and has progressed his career to now be the UK retail director! Wherever you’d like your career to take you, we’ll support you through our great training and development opportunities.
