The position requires the individual to work effectively with site stakeholders to drive and encourage a strong safety culture. What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Investigating health-related complaints and cases of ill health
  • Carrying out risk/COSHH assessments and site inspections
  • Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly and safely
  • Identifying and controlling potential hazards though line walks, SAFERS and conversations
  • Determining ways of reducing risks, compiling statistics and writing reports
  • Support in the running of health and safety meetings and training courses for employees
  • Liaising with external health and safety authorities
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.
  • Supporting the KSO-4 Environmental Strategy
  • Supporting the Wellness strategy
  • Supporting the companies ESG and CSR strategies

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This is a level 3 Safety, Health and Environmental apprenticeship.

This includes:

  • Level 3 Occupational Health & Safety
  • IOSH Managing Safety
  • NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Health & Safety
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English (minimum requirement
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in mathematics (minimum requirement)
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in Information & Communications Technology (minimum requirement)

Learners must complete 83 days off the job training within their workplace, covering the assessment & project needs for the qualification and this must be logged and accounted for within their learning log. You will be required to attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services Ltd in Aldridge, Walsall, WS9 8UG, on block release, during the 2 - year training period.  Please ensure you can travel to all sites.
