What will the apprentice be doing?
Responsibilities:
- Response and alert of calls
- Ensuring clients contact and personal information are kept up to date
- Personal care aspect
- Diary rota (mixture of duties)
- Respond to a fall/trip/equipment alert
- Moving and handling of equipment/clients
- Dealing with the whole of the council out of hours calls
- Dealing with difficult situations potentially death/distressed clients
- Support and make a real different to local residents lives
- Working under the supervision of a line manager
Undertaking call handling and associated work, monitoring and responding to the needs of clients linked via Technology Enabled Support, including outgoing calls to clients as required.
To carry out appropriate action to ensure that all calls received are dealt with satisfactorily in line with agreed policy and procedures.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Adult Care Worker Level 2:
Care Certificate – usually completed within the first 3 months of the apprenticeship
Level 2 Diploma in Care
Maths and English to Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent to D -G at GCSE. The Level 2 maths and English to Level 2 – test to be taken – please note the apprentice will need to study to be capable of passing the level 2 and cannot simply be entered for it without proof of readiness to take test.
Ongoing assessment by the employer and provider – for example meetings with apprentice, employer and learning provider, observations of workplace, gathering evidence
Undertake a self-assessment in the last month of their apprenticeship to enable them to see whether they are confident that they have taken on board all aspects of the occupation.
This self-assessment must be submitted to the independent end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for the professional discussion In the last three months of the apprenticeship following the completion.
