What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties Include:

  • Checking and updating allergen information as required and directed
  • Following recipes for bulk cooking and baking, i.e. Pulled pork, Beef Chilli, Mexican Green Rice, Pico de Gallo Salsa, Marbled Gluten Free White & Dark Chocolate Brownie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Baked New York Cheesecake and lots more
  • Ensuring all prep is completed i.e homemade red slaw, vegan fried dill pickles, Ham sliced, Chicken butterflied, pane cod goujons
  • Learning what goes on each dish and the correct presentation

Cooking food to order alongside another chef, once confident one will work the chargrill and fryers which involves cooking steaks to the correct degree, frying chips, freshly made goujons, dill pickles etc and the other will run the pass, whilst looking after the ovens and microwaves (for reheating bulk cooking such as Lasagne or Bread and butter pudding).

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Commis chef apprenticeship achieved via day release at Petroc college.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This vacancy may lead to a full time Chefs role for the right candidates.
