What will the apprentice be doing?

We currently have exciting opportunities for an apprentice butcher who will start in the sausage/burger making department and be trained in other areas of butchery as they develop their skills. The hours of work and shift patterns are Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm The rates of pay are: Starting from £7.50 per hour depending on age rising to £10.50 once full training is complete.
As part of your apprenticeship programme you will start in the sausage/burger section of our butchery where you will be with a small team creating some of the amazing Kittow products. Full training will be given to this exciting position. You will learn, understand, and manages the entire process of creating processed meat products, including operating and adjusting equipment, troubleshooting, and contributing to product development. The Apprentice will handle, select, prepare, and formulate recipe ingredients in the production of sausages/burgers or processed items. The position is responsible for monitoring temperature of the products in controlled stages of production, grinding, mixing, stuffing, hanging, and cooling of products.
The Apprentice will understand the science of meat and effects of the various ingredients and processes used to produce sausage/burger products.
The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal Apprentice Butcher will have passion for delivering our customer orders whilst making sure our high Health and Safety, Food Safety and Product Quality standards are met. You will be comfortable working in a chilled food processing environment. We are a fast-moving business, so you need to enjoy working at pace and have determination to act and achieve results. Previous experience working in a factory or warehouse environment would be useful, but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Full In-house training given across the whole butchery working with the training provider M.E.A.T. Ipswich leading to a Level 2 Butchery Qualification with the scope to progress to Level 3 if wanted.(Butcher Level 2 apprentices must achieve Level 2 Food Safety Award, Level 2 Health & Safety in the Food Supply Chain Award, and Level 2 Knife Skills Award)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Level 2 Butchery Qualification with the scope to progress to Level 3 if wanted. You will become a skilled person learning the craft and art of butchery which will give you transferable skills for life and lead to progression in management in throughout the food industry
