What will the apprentice be doing?

With support from colleagues and training via e-learning, apprentices will assist the provision of support. Typically tasks will consist of:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Walks
  • Supporting with meals
  • Coping techniques
  • Emotional support
  • Registering on Homefinder
  • Support with Benefits

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will undertake the Adult Care Worker L2 Standard with Yeovil College. Some college attendance in the form of masterclasses will be required.

Knowledge is gained by work-based learning, e-learning modules, and the employer is offering the NCFE Level 2 in Mental Health problems qualification.

Time will be allocated on shift and learning on the job.

Training will be 1 day per week.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The role could lead to a permanent position with Enable Support Services.

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.

Enable offer 3 models of service – Community Support, Step-Up Support and Step-Down Support Enable Support Services offer a Step Up and Step Down model. Step Up provides 7 day respite for clients in mental health crisis, with the hope of avoiding hospital admission, offering emotional & social support, creating and maintaining healthy sleeping and mealtime routines and looking at coping techniques. Step Down caters for homeless clients after a hospital admission, supporting them with benefit claims, re-housing, life skills and emotional and social support.
