HR Apprentice Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi Academy Trust

You will be involved in all aspects of HR, providing an initial response HR helpline service to all academies within the Trust, escalating to the HR Advisors or HR Manager as necessary. You will be responsible for administering the full recruitment process, supporting with employee relations, day to day queries and HR project work.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include, but not limited to: 

  • To work alongside HR colleagues to provide an initial response HR helpline service to all academies within the Trust, helping to respond to day-to-day queries on sickness, leave of absence, informal conduct issues, informal grievance, Catholic Education Service (CES) contracts and other key policies and procedures. Escalation to other HR professionals as necessary.
  • To work alongside HR colleagues to assist with drafting template letters relating to absence, conduct, capability and grievance.
  • To assist with organising dates and venues for HR meetings/hearings/appeals.
  • To circulate agendas and relevant HR paperwork regarding meetings, hearings and appeals.
  • To assist with taking accurate and timely minutes/notes/actions.
  • To shadow other HR professionals at meetings and hearings to start to understand and interpret key HR processes, procedures, systems, conditions of service and employment law.
  • To work alongside HR professionals to support the preparation of bundles of documents relating to Employee Relations cases, including capability, disciplinary, absence, grievance and redundancy.
  • To work alongside HR professionals to make occupational health referrals and help ensure that medical reports are available in a timely way to headteachers and managers to assist with the effective management of short and long-term absence.
  • To work alongside HR professionals to assist with the collation and interpretation of workforce data for the Trust, such as turnover and sickness.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 HR Support apprenticeship standard. Online delivery, 15month duration - 12 months learning period and 3 months End point assessment. 
  • Functional Skills Maths and English if required.
  • 20% Off the job training within your working week.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
