What will the apprentice be doing?

Our apprenticeships are designed to give you the experience needed in a real job that brings out the best in you, with real responsibilities, real challenges, real projects and scope to grow your career.

We provide high quality support to adult social care clients which focuses on personal wellbeing outcomes and the clients wishes.

  • To provide high quality support to the team across Adult Social Care which focuses on personal wellbeingoutcomes and the clients wishes; to achieve strength-based support.
  • Within the Short Breaks and the Home Independence Teams this will involve work with clients focused around delivering short breaks to individuals with complex health and social care needs whilst contributing to reviews of care plans.
  • Within Occupational Therapy this will involve supporting the teams triaging of new and existing referrals, alongside supporting with assessing clients within their own home environments where appropriate, assessing and providing minor aids and adaptations to support independence and enhance engagement with daily living activities.
  • To support interventions which focus on the personal wellbeing outcomes a client wishes to achieve.

  • To assist in planning and participate in activities and outings involving clients.

  • To provide support and advice to clients and their carers and to escalate to senior staff when more complex advice and support is required.

  • To respond to enquiries and give assistance to enable clients to access the care and support needed.

  • To work within a CQC Registered service under direct supervision at all times.

  • To ensure an agreed plan meets the clients care and support needs and empowers the client to access early intervention and preventative services.

  • To support clients through any mandatory meetings and participate in assessments and reviews under guidance and supervision of senior members of the team, while respecting Client confidences.

  • To inform senior colleagues of any concerns which arise in relation to the safety of vulnerable adults and adhering to safeguarding procedures. 

  • To work in partnership with clients, carers, service providers, voluntary sector, and other professionals.

  • To hold a non-complex case load and input cases into the case management system using the appropriate software as required.

  • To attend team meetings and undertake any necessary and appropriate team duties and activities.

  • To provide support and assistance to other colleagues and liaise with internal or external professionals, exchanging information accurately and to the appropriate timescales

  • To perform all the functions of the post consistent with current legislation and within the policies standards and procedures established by the Council.

  • To take responsibility for all the functions of the post within the boundaries of delegated responsibility.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

If you are helpful, patient and caring by nature and are looking to progress within a career in adult social care whilst gaining qualifications and experience at the same time, then we want to hear from you! You will gain experience in a large organisation, whilst studying towards your nationally recognised qualification - Adult Care L2 Standard qualification, with 20% time out of the workplace for study, training and assessments.  Your training will be a via a blended learning approach, with face to face visits in your wokplace, on-line group workshops on a monthly basis and hands on training within the workplace providing you with all you require to be successful. You will be given one day a week to complete your training.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We cannot guarantee a permanent position following completion of the apprenticeship, however this is a great opportunity to gain skills, experience and a professional qualification in the area of adult social care.
