    The wage is for 19+ for the period of the apprenticeship. If 16 - 18 the wage is £8,970.00 pa . After 12 months if the apprentice is 19 + they go onto National Minimum Wage for the rest of the apprenticeship period.

What will the apprentice be doing?

These are the proposed core responsibilities of the Apprentice Patient Services Administrator which will be undertaken with supervision and support.  They are subject to change dependent on the needs of the business and the skills mix of the team. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Daily administration tasks from clinicians
  • Booking appointments
  • Distributing prescriptions
  • Processing eConsults
  • Monitoring and actioning emails
  • Photocopying, scanning and filing of records
  • Answering and making calls to and from patients and other organisations
  • Dealing with requests from patients face to face
  • Registering new patients

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • 80% on-the-job training provided by the employer to support the job role
  • 20% off-the-job training provided by the employer and the training provider to support the role and develop the apprentice’s personal and professional skills. This will be largely in the workplace. There is no weekly attendance at a college setting
  • Online learning modules and mandatory half day monthly virtual workshops to support the apprentice to develop the underpinning knowledge required for the job role
  • You will work towards achievement of the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Standard and other modules related to the apprenticeship
  • Continuing Professional Development
  • English and maths Functional Skills if required
