What will the apprentice be doing?

As an Engineering Apprentice at Imerys Minerals Ltd you will learn all the elements of either Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering required in order to maintain productivity of a busy Industrial Plant, whilst working safely at all times adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team to complete the maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor
  • Control and maintain a safe working environment ensuring that any issues are reported in a timely manner ensuring that workplace activities are compliant with UK Health and Safety Regulations covering employees, contractors and visitors
  • Operate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the site Operations, to provide the required quality production safety and efficiently at minimum cost


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will attend St Austell College on a weekly basis (during term times)
  • You will achieve a Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification 

You will be required to undertake mandatory qualifications: 

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
