What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be supported directly by our excellent team of Client Managers to help you learn as you grow your technical and soft skills both with our internal development plan, and your studies.

Our collaborative and open ethos means that you will be able to draw on technical skills and experience of all levels, all the way up to the Directors, throughout your career at Ten Forward Accounting.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring client records are accurately maintained.
  • Completing tasks in a timely manner, to deadline.
  • Managing deadlines for planning and reporting foreseen issues.
  • Hitting internal utilisation and budget targets.
  • Effective use of software to achieve desired results.
  • Posting sales invoices, credit notes, cash and bank transactions and purchase invoices to Xero.
  • Accurate data input.
  • Working with Excel spreadsheets and cloud software.
  • Reconciling accounts.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate client records.
  • Assisting with penalties, charges and investigations.
  • Assisting in Company Secretarial responsibilities.
  • Preparing Self Assessment returns.
  • Posting journals.
  • Processing payroll.
  • Assisting with HMRC investigations.
  • Preparing VAT returns.
  • Ad-hoc projects, general office tasks as required.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3

This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements.

You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You will study 5 units:  

  • Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS). 
  • Management Accounting Techniques (MATS). 
  • Tax Processes for Business (TPFB). 
  • Business Awareness (BUAW).
  • Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment.


Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons, Live Online sessions or OnDemand. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.
