What will the apprentice be doing?

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Patient Service Manager ACCOUNTABLE TO: Patient Service Manager

  • Manage and review referrals lists to support the clinical team
  • Ensure referrals are actioned in a timely and appropriate manner
  • To provide all general administration as required within the referral team
  • Demonstrate decision making skills by assessing each referral and feeding back concerns to the relevant clinical member of staff
  • Ensure the recall database is accurate and up to date
  • Assist in collating data for audit purposes when required
  • To produce typewritten patient referral information and other clinical correspondence as required by the Organisation
  • Act as a point of contact for all referral queries within the Organisation
  • To have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in writing (letters and electronically) and verbally with a wide range of providers and users of services
  • To undertake private work or clinicians ensuring it is dealt with in a timely manner
  • Action invoices for private work in a timely manner and follow up to ensure payment has been received prior to sending out correspondence
  • All general administration of private work such as copy notes etc.
  • Communicate effectively by competent use of email, telephone, written and face to face communication
  • To keep accurate records of all client/patient contacts, using the organisation databases and templates as directed, updating as necessary
  • To understand the importance of confidentiality To report any incidents that might compromise health and safety for self, other staff or customers/patients
  • Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously
  • Any other duties agreed between the employee and The Organisation

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualification/s to be obtained: Business Administration Level 3

The training will be delivered by Business Plus at Fareham College, an Ofsted Outstanding College. Your training will be delivered at your place of work and virtually. The schedule of this training is to be confirmed.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

If successful there could be an opportunity for a permanent position within the organisation once the Apprenticeship has been completed.
