    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

An opportunity to become part of the Iveco Apprenticeship programme as a Heavy Vehicle Service Technician.
Supported throughout by a dedicated Iveco employer, this vacancy is for a 3 year apprenticeship that will result in the successful candidate gaining an Advanced Apprenticeship made up of a NVQ at level 3, a technical certificate at level 3 and associated key skills (if required).
As a Heavy Vehicle Technician you would be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from:

  • Servicing and repairs,
  • Replacing components
  • Using specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics
  • Engine tuning equipment to measure performance
  • Rectifying faults on customer’s vehicles in a busy Iveco workshop

Things to consider

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. This is a Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, training is delivered by block release at the Iveco training centre at Cheshire.  With assessments being conducted in the work place by an assessor

  • Level 2 & 3 VCQ & VRQ Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (HV)
