This is a development role. Through training the post holder will develop skills, knowledge and experience in their role, supporting their educational development.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to experience all areas of catering within the hotel, including events, pastry and fine dining.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE or equivalent grade A*-D in English and Mathematics

Benefits include: Lunch included. Use of Leisure and Spa facilities. Opportunity to secure a full time Commis Chef position after 1 year. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

On site culinary training across various kitchen disciplines including pastry, banqueting and fine dining.

Apprentices attend Farnborough College of Technology for one day a week to learn practical and theory skills.

Working towards a Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, and they will also gain:

  • Level 2 Technical Certificate
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
