Your main responsibilities will be ensuring the smooth running of the dispensary, dispensing medication effectively and safely, managing stock levels and be another expert for our customers to talk to, providing healthcare advice and services at the counter. You'll also assist with sales and general store duties including product displays and cash transactions. As every day is different, you could find yourself getting involved with everything from acting as the first point of contact for customers, managing high volume dispensing transactions for local care homes to dealing with operational queries from GP surgeries.

Future prospects

Upon completion apprenticeship you might be offered a permanent position in our pharmacy with an opportunity to complete a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Course.

Things to consider

You will be required to be up and about with the pharmacy attending to patients’ requirements, collecting prescription for dispensing, picking the medicines, doing the labels on the computer and giving out the medicine to the patients, all under the supervision of the pharmacist. This job might be physically demanding. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
