Studental are looking to recruit a hard working, reliable and enthusiastic person who wants to develop a career in dental nursing.

As a Dental Nurse your duties would include:

  • Providing chair side assistance to the dentist.
  • Ensure the care and welfare of patients.
  • Preparing and maintaining the clinical environment.
  • Sterilisation of instruments.
  • Mixing materials.
  • Charting on the computer.
  • Complying with strict cross infection procedures.
  • Developing digital x-rays.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of materials are within the surgery.
  • Carrying out some reception and administrative tasks.

  • Be computer literate.

Personal qualities

  • You must be of a smart and professional appearance at all times, wearing a clean, presentable uniform and have a positive attitude.

Qualifications required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above.
  • All grades disclosed will be checked on your Personal Learning Record before you application is submitted to the Dental Practice.

Future prospects

There are good career progression opportunities such as: Hygienist and Practice Management for the right person.

Things to consider

You will be required to have a Hepatitis B injection and pass a DBS check. From the 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

About the employer

Studental opened in 1999 and has recently been taken over by new management. It is based on Headington Hill Campus but does not just treat students, they treat everyone. The practice predominately offers NHS dentistry and also offers Private dentistry. Studental moved premises at the end of July to a more modern and up-to-date practice.
