Duties to include:

  • Installation of fire and security systems
  • Maintenance of fire and security systems
  • Working in a variety of different locations including domestic, commercial and site work.
  • Maintain fire and security systems in accordance with the British Standards and Manufacturers regulations

Things to consider

Individuals who already hold a Level 4 qualification are only eligible for a Level 5 or above Higher Apprenticeship and are not eligible for funding for an Intermediate Level, Advanced Level or Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship. Training to include:

  • Critical Health and Safety knowledge for the achievement of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card (CSCS affiliated) for employment purposes, with regular assessment to ensure a deep and thorough understanding, with a clear demonstration of competence before being allowed to attempt the end-point assessment.
  • Functional Skills (if required)- general skills that are used in every job, such as Communication and Application of Number.

You will be required to work at heights and be supported by a skilled engineer. There will be some occasional weekend work. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
