Responsibilities of the Apprentice – In this role, you will:

  • Be working to install, maintain and repair/troubleshoot systems, software and hardware
  • Keep a calendar for bookings of IT equipment and rooms
  • Under the guidance of our external IT support company, you will be prioritising IT issues and working to resolve them at pace
  • Be liaising with staff and our IT support company to keep both up to date on the resolution of IT issues
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records relating to IT services

Qualifications required

Someone with ideally 5 GCSE grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.

Future prospects

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.

Things to consider

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
