Responsibilities of the IT Support Apprentice:

  • Providing 1st Line technical support to customers – taking enquiries via Telephone, Email and Live Chat
  • Support windows pc’s, servers, network devices and printers
  • Accurate categorisation and recording of service tickets on ConnectWise (Our IT Business Management System)
  • Initial troubleshooting of incidents using basic troubleshooting methods.
  • Accurate recording of all troubleshooting steps and resolutions
  • Accurately update customer documentation
  • Work towards agreed service level agreements
  • Escalation of tickets to appropriate teams

Qualifications required

Someone with ideally 5 GCSE grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.

Future prospects

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.

Things to consider

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
