Our General Hospitality Apprenticeship is designed to provide apprentices with a basic understanding of all areas of hotel operations. We recognise that with such a varied mix of departments, it’s difficult to know which way to move forward in your career and therefore this enables you to experience different departments in order to help closely match your own personal skills and qualities against a role most suitable for you. We find that this programme allows us to fully support you in
making the best career choice moving forward. After completion of Hospitality
Level 2, there is further opportunity for apprentices to progress to a specialist L3, or L2 modules designed to fit with your department.

Basic duties:

  • Dealing with customer enquiries - This will include enquiries from the reception desk, restaurant, housekeeping etc  This includes using your own initiative to deal with enquiries that may be concerning another department.

  • Greeting customers and ensuring they have all the information to ensure they have the best stay possible.

  • Ensuring your personal presentation is of an excellent standard to represent the standards of the hotel.

  • Make sure all customer interactions are dealt with in a professional manner. Including using your brilliant personality to welcome all our guests and leave them with a fantastic lasting impression!

Qualifications required

Ideally GCSEs at Grades A* to C or equivalent, including English and Maths (without these, you will need to pass a function skills test during initial assessments)

Future prospects

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be offered a position within one of our four star hotels! From there the sky is the limit, as QHotels will support your development by providing training throughout your career.

Things to consider

The right candidate must be available to work full time hours that will include evenings and weekends. Lots of our hotels are located remotely, so some support may be required to get you to and from work. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
