    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Established time served bricklayer requires 1 prospective apprentice. With projects in various locations the apprentice could be from the Frodsham or Helsby Area. It would be preferable if the candidate had transport but not essential.    

The company is looking for an enthusiastic candidate, with a good work ethic and first class timekeeping. A first class opportunity for the right calibre candidates.

The successful apprentices would be required to attend Build Skill Plus the specialist bricklaying apprenticeship centre based in Winsford in Cheshire once a week.

To learn all aspects of Bricklaying and associated building trades skills. 

  • Checking measuring the work area and setting out the first rows of bricks (courses) and the damp course
  • Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
  • Laying the bricks on top of each other and applying the mortar with a trowel
  • Shaping and trimming bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools
  • Checking that courses are straight using water or laser spirit levels and plumb lines.
  • General building work as and when required.
