Apprentice Nursery Nurse will be required to complete the following duties:

 

  • Set up and carry out activities for the children
  • Observe the children and complete relevant paperwork to a high standard
  • Follow the policies and procedures of the setting at all times to ensure the health and safety of the staff and children
  • Assist with general hygiene and cleaning duties
  • Assist during meal times
  • Communicate with other staff members and parents on a daily basis

On completion of the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce, you may be offered a permanent position with the nursery.

From the 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. A DBS check will be required. Employer interviews will be carried out before the vacancy closing date, and a start date arranged as soon as possible. This role requires you to be on your feet working with children for the majority of your day. You will need to speak to parents and other staff. You will have to fill in paperwork on a daily basis and will be required to take children out of the setting when necessary.

Training provider

Apprentice Nursery Nurse will be employed for up to 40 hours per week & will be required to attend 1 study day per month on a Saturday from 10am - 4pm. You will be required to complete tasks both at work & at home which will need to be handed in the following Study Day. Your employer will appoint a work based mentor to support you & you will get a dedicated training manager from Smart Training. On completion of your training you will be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Learning and Development (Early Years Educator). You will be required to have achieved GCSE grades A-C in maths and English on completion of the course.
