This is a fantastic opportunity to earn as you learn and become a fully qualified bricklaying apprentice. The apprentice will experience working across Cornwall and Devon and work alongside a young vibrant team.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
Jamie is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join his team and become a trowel apprentice. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn as you learn! The successful candidate will work alongside the experts and develop their skills which will aid them within the construction industry.
Daily duties will include:
- Using a mix of local stone work and block work
- Preparing surfaces
- Mixing mortar
- Laying bricks
- Repair, maintain and alters buildings, retaining walls and other brick or stone edifices
- Operating equipment
Requirements and prospects
The employer is looking for someone who is quick to learn and hard working.They must be a good team player and have excellent time keeping skills.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following personal qualities:

- can work well in a team
- good problem solver
- proactive attitude
- well organised
- good sense of humour
- ability to work at height
GCSE Maths and English at grade D+ or equivalent is desired but not essential.
Things to consider
About the employer
You will be trained in the workplace alongside your usual duties and you will be expected to attend college one day a week or on a block release basis.
You will work towards achieving a level 2 apprenticeship in trowel occupations including work based and knowledge components, an employee rights and responsibilities qualification, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and if required Functional Skills.
