    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Main Purpose of Job:

To learn the company procedures and to continue into the production of manufacturing drawings and part lists utilising standard design concepts. To prepare designs and to ensure prompt and proper issue of all documents through your Manager and onto the Contracts Department according to the Company Procedures, Quality Manual and in support of the Business Plan.

General duties will be learning Design and Drafting with autocad and Tekla resources; creating general arrangements, 3D design, copying drawing production.

Main Duties:

  • The preparation of General Arrangement Drawings.
  • The preparation of fabrication/manufacturing detail drawings from GA drawings. This function to include technical detailing, and awareness of the needs of our fabrication/manufacturing department with regard to drawing content. Standard design concepts must be utilised and maintained.
  • To ensure that all drawings are produced to the Quality Standards as set out in the Company Procedures.
  • Receipt, collation and file retention of all suppliers, drawings and related documentation.
  • Continuous liaison with the Engineering Manager to keep them properly informed of work in progress and possible problems due to any unforeseen engineering design difficulties.
  • To ensure that all Contracts are engineered in line with the specific quotation and that all costs are covered within the quoted prices.
  • Technical selection and allocation of components specific to the contract.
  • To complete ad hoc tasks and special projects as required.
  • Ensure that all documentation issued by the Company is of an appropriate standard and that all commitments made are within the scope of your authority.
  • All tasks to be completed in time scales stated to achieve on time contractual delivery as specified by the Engineering Manager.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is �3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
