You will have a varied role and do what is necessary to help ensure the smooth running of the restaurant.

 

  • Working alongside existing head chef to create enjoyable meals
  • Learning and influencing the menu and specials board
  • Preparing vegetable, fish and meat produce on a day to day basis ahead of service
  • Maintaining a clean kitchen and counter
  • Replenishing stock & assisting with orders
  • Learning all aspects of working and running an industrial kitchen
  • Achieving Level 2 Food Safety Qualification

 

This is a friendly, local bistro that welcomes regular customers and new alike. An interest in catering is a necessity as there are opportunities for advancement for the right candidate.

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. INTERVIEW We will be interviewing candidates who meet the criteria as they apply and will recruit after a successful interview which may be before the closing date. Reality Check You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work. Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst awaiting for your first wages to be paid. Travel Information Nearest train station is Sandwich station. Walking distance from station to bus stop is 0.2 miles, takes 3 minutes. Buses name ‘The Diamond 13A’ (non-stop), takes 2 minutes. Walking distance from bus stop to destination is 0.2 miles, takes 3 minutes. Overall travel time is 8 minutes.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
