    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Admin Apprentice needed to join our busy admin team across 2 sites. Duties will include:


  • Reception duties
  • Booking & managing room timetables
  • Greeting & directing visitors to meetings
  • Providing refreshments for meetings
  • General admin duties
  • Supporting the daily running of the office facility

Qualifications required

Excellent Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills are a requirement for this post, and an ability to work with MS Office.

Working with students that have additional needs. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. About the employer

Elmwood & Penrose Federation is a small Federation of two special schools which is split over three separate sites within Bridgwater. Penrose School is situated on Albert Street, it is a small primary phase special school for children with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Elmwood School is a secondary phase special school and is co-located with Robert Blake Science College on Hamp Avenue. The Jean Rees Centre is a specialist Post 16 Centre which is situated on the Chilton Trinity site.
