    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

An excellent opportunity has arisen to work for a busy restaurant within a hotel based in Faversham.

As an Apprentice Chef, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Assisting in the preparation, cooking and presentation of food to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Undertake all reasonable duties as assigned by the Head Chef.
  • Get involved in creating high quality dishes, including Breakfast, Lunches, Starters, Mains and Desserts.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will be required to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Pro Chef.

You will be working 30+ hours per week, covering shifts throughout the week, stating as early as 7:30am and finishing latest at 11pm.

With more than 10 years experience in catering, Head Chef Nicky Martin started at The Carriage Restaurant in August 2015, before taking over the full management of the Restaurant one year later. The restaurant, situated in the historic Railway Hotel building, has a relaxed atmosphere, decorated with Railway memorabillia dotted throughout. We take pride in what we do, and all our dishes are homemade by our team of chefs.
