Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Receiving patients at the surgery and welcoming visitors to the practice
- Prompt response to telephone calls
- Making appointments for healthcare professionals
- Dealing effectively with queries (either personally or by directing to the appropriate person)
- Ensuring that the clinicians have all the patient information required for clinics
- Miscellaneous filing into paper medical records
- Receiving requests for repeat prescriptions in person, by telephone or via the internet and entering them into the computer
- Using e-mail to communicate within the practice team
- Registering new patients and temporary residents into the practice
- Entering patient data onto their clinical record
- Checking adequate supply of controlled stationery and specimen bottles, etc.
- Periodic checks of files for incorrect filing
- Assisting in the Records Management of the practice
- Scanning patient correspondence, discharge letters, etc. onto the patient clinical record
- Photocopying
- Dealing with the incoming and outgoing post
- Collecting and passing on messages, assessing urgency of messages
Requirements and prospects

- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

Desired qualifications
- GCSEs in English and maths at Grade C/4 equivalent or above
Future prospects
- On successful completion of the Apprenticeship the opportunity of a permanent position within the practice
- Progression could be through a higher level Apprenticeship in Business Administration, Customer Service or training to become, for example, a Phlebotomist taking blood tests etc.

Please note that the Practice will be operating from 63 Monks Road which will be temporary premises for the Practice whilst our premises at 95 Monks Road undergo a full renovation over the next 6 months or so. We will be moving back to 95 Monks Road once the work is complete.

- In-house training on all company policies and procedures
- All required e-learning modules, this will include all aspects of H&S, data handling etc
- In-house training on the Receptionist role including answering and dealing with phone calls, face to face at the reception deck and processing of prescriptions
