Mill End Hotel and Restaurant are looking to recruit a young person who has a real drive to become a top chef.
You would be working in a small team in our 2AA rosette restaurant which is located nearby Chagford on Dartmoor.
The food we offer at the hotel is classic British food with a cotemporary twist and exquisite presentation. You would be reporting directly into the head chef and working closely with chefs at varying levels including Commis, Chef de Partie and Sous chef enabling you to learn about all the roles you’d look to be moving into in the future.
The successful candidate will have a real drive to succeed in the catering world and won’t mind getting stuck into whatever challenges or jobs are thrown their way while learning their trade.
Reporting into and helping each individual chef through the apprenticeship so you have a good overall picture of how to progress.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Learning how to and eventually prepping food
- Learning the cleanliness requirements of a 2 AA rosette kitchen and helping maintain those standards
- Helping keep on top of washing crockery, cutlery and pots and pans.
- Learning the presentation requirements for a high standard restaurant.
- Working evening, breakfast and lunch shifts.
- Reporting into and helping each individual chef through the apprenticeship so you have a good overall picture of how to progress.

- The candidate will have a basic knowledge of the kitchen and equipment in a kitchen
- The candidate will have basic knowledge of foods and food categories.
- The candidate will have good organisational skills
- The candidate will have basic cooking skills and knowledge and feel comfortable in the high-pressure kitchen environment.

- Good communicator
- Able to work on own initiative
Desired qualifications
- English and Maths GCSE at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)

The potential for a full time job upon completion of your apprenticeship.
