You will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team providing over the counter and prescription pharmaceutical services to the local community.
Helping with day-to-day tasks such as:
- Consultations
- Dispensing medicine
- General admin
The suitable candidate will be spending their time in both the shop-front retail and dispensary sides of the pharmacy.
Other tasks include:
- Operating the cash till
- Merchandising
- Reacting to incoming internet and phone enquiries
- Use of the computer and the pharmacy specific software
- Handling and unpacking orders
- Stock management
- Date-checking of stock
- Processing NHS prescriptions
- Provide advice on symptoms related to minor ailments which the public may ask about at the pharmacy
- Provide advice on the safe and effective use of Over the Counter Medicines
- Identify requests for advice or treatment of minor ailments which must be referred to the appropriate team member according to organisational procedures
- Sell over the counter medicines and products according to organisational and legal requirements
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to manager patients with long term conditions by promoting services such as health checks and smoking cessation programmes
- Gather relevant information such as smoking habits, medicines taken, health issues such as heart disease or diabetes, lifestyle factors such as alcohol use, diet and exercise and signpost to external agencies that can help and refer to the pharmacist when appropriate

- The successful candidate will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other staff members, customers and healthcare professionals to ensure high standards of service are maintained
- A basic IT proficiency and strong organisational skills are also preferred

- Fully conversant in Microsoft Office packages e.g. Excel and Word
Personal qualities
- Presentable appearance
- An ability to deal with clients in a professional manner
Desired qualifications
- GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) In English and maths
Future prospects
- On completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship, individuals will have the opportunity to apply to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship
