Our Senior Field Technician is a multi-skilled trades person who constantly requires onsite support. The tasks are varied from general Handyman/ DIY type jobs right up to small construction/ refurbishment projects supporting fully qualified trades people who lead on such projects. The role is a fantastic opportunity to learn many skills from seasoned professionals. One of our core services is structured cabling which is a very niche skill that can be learnt so that individuals know how to install phone and data along with the occasional fibre roll out. Key responsibilities are to support our senior technician with onsite tasks, assist with communications and info pertaining to jobs between site and Head Office so management are kept informed at all times. There is also the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge on many types of electrical jobs too if the individual is wanting to focus on that route – so long as they are prepared to take on the other requirements too.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Just a general interest and aptitude for DIY is mainly required. We would prefer someone who can drive and has their own transport so that logistics are made easier for the Senior and Apprentice to meet up with the van. As previously mentioned we do require, if there is availability, someone who maybe wants to go down an electrical route. We do not have our own in house electrician but we do use many contractors who will be able to mentor on our jobs if required. Ultimately we would like to attain NICEIC accreditation within the next 3 to 5 years.

Personal qualities

We are hoping to grow our field technician team considerably over the next 3 to 5 years. Any apprentice who successfully completes their training and proves to be a reliable and talented technician will be awarded their own van and maybe even in charge of their own apprentice to teach. We are also looking to set up specific departments for certain trades which will need managers.

Qualifications required

Must have GCSE’s Grade C or above in English and maths equivalent.
