The successful candidate will be working with the nursery supervisors, and under the nursery manager. They will be responsible for helping the rest of the nursery team with:

  • labelling,
  • standing stock down,
  • weeding,
  • watering,
  • unloading lorries,
  • helping customers,
  • and general nursery duties.

Provender is a fast growing company, which is expanding into a new 18 acre field above the main site; this will enable the successful candidate, to be involved in the construction of the new area.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Maths and English grade D (or Level 1 equivalent) or higher is essential.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade C or higher (Level 2) is desirable.

If you do not have the desired grade C GCSE or Level 2, you may be required to undertake Functional Skills Literacy and/or Numeracy alongside your qualification.

Future prospects

Possible permanent position upon successful completion of apprenticeship.

Things to consider

There is a short walk from Swanley train station up to the nursery, along with bus stops located close to the site. This is a manual job where it will require heavy lifting and long periods of being on your feet. Working in all weathers, so the successful candidate will have to be prepared to work in the rain, wind, cold, and in sunny and hot conditions. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour from 1st October 2016. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
