Duties to include:
- Prepare source documents for computer entry by compiling, sorting and organising documents, resolving questionable data, setting daily priorities
- Maintains accounts systems for multiple companies by inputting sales and purchase ledgers
- Prevents erroneous entries by inputting voids and cancellations
- Updates records by entering adjustments
- Complete bank reconciliation and prepare VAT
- Prepare management account information
- Prepare Payroll
- General office duties, including but not limited to: answering phone calls, emails, dealing with visitors etc
- Protects organisation's value by keeping information confidential
- Accomplishes accounting and organisation mission by completing related results as needed

Desired qualifications
- Strong academic ability with a minimum of 3 GCSE’s including maths and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent. Previous knowledge of accounting or a Level 1 Bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous but not essential
- 3 A levels or equivalent preferred

Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.
AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2) which covers a range of key areas including:
- Bookkeeping transactions
- Bookkeeping controls
- Elements of costing
- Working effectively in Finance
- Computerised Accounts
Method of Delivery:
Delivery will be in partnership with employers and will adopt a blended learning approach, combining online learning and face-to-face lessons. Online lessons can be accessed at any time using a mobile, tablet or desktop. Apprentices receive training and mentoring in the workplace and knowledge, skills and behaviour development at York College through a combination of classroom based lessons, group exercises and discussions.
Apprentices attend College once every two weeks and will study online materials during allotted time at work.
End Point Assessment.
The End Point Assessment consists of:
- Structured Interview (supported by a portfolio of evidence)
- In-Tray test which replicates the typical work an Accounts/Finance Assistant will have to manage in a workplace
Method of delivery
